Teenager finding purpose wants to live

I Want to Live

There are certain events which have become guiding presences for all we do here. One which stands out so high, is a letter written by a seventeen year old girl. She had been given a copy of The Why Cafe book by her mother. After reading it, the young woman took the time to share what her experience with the book had meant to her.

She explained how lost she had felt for most of her teen years. Hopeless and without direction. A life without purpose. For many years she had been suffering from eating disorders and had been in and out of hospitals and treatment centers.

In her letter, she explained that reading the book, and contemplating what it meant for her life, had done more for her than the last two years of therapy. She said she could see a future now, a purpose for her life. And because of that, for the first time in a long time, she wanted to live.

It is stories like hers, which propel us forward to do everything we can to make a difference each day. To help people find their purpose and then live it.

We could not do this were it not for the gracious contributions of donors like you. Thank you for helping us make a difference.
